Mentoring programmes have rapidly increased in popularity amongst many organisations in recent years. The purpose of this report is to provide a greater insight into organisational mentoring programmes aimed at supporting leadership and behavioural development initiatives. This need for greater insight is due to an increased interest from organisations seeking to introduce such programmes. This report draws upon survey responses from eighteen organisations who already have such initiatives in place.
Apprenticeships vs Internships in Learning & Development
The National Skills Bulletin 2016 is the latest in an annual series of reports, produced by the Skills and Labour Market Research Unit (SLMRU) in SOLAS on behalf of the EGFSN. The Bulletin provides an overview of the Irish labour market at occupational level. The objective of the Bulletin is to inform policy formulation in the areas of employment, education/training, career guidance and immigration. The Bulletin also aims to assist students, job seekers, persons returning to the labour force, investors and employers in making labour market decisions.
OECD Skills Outlook 2017
The OECD Skills Outlook 2017 shows how countries can make the most of global value chains, socially and economically, by investing in the skills of their populations. Applying a “whole of government” approach is crucial. Countries need to develop a consistent set of skills-related policies such as education, employment protection legislation, and migration policies, in coordination with trade and innovation policies. This report presents new analyses based on the Survey of Adult Skills and the Trade in Value Added Database. It also explains what countries would need to do to specialise in technologically advanced industries.
Future Skills Requirements of the Manufacturing Sector to 2020
The Government's Action Plan for Jobs 2012 highlighted the need for a renewed focus on manufacturing. The overarching objective of this study is to address the skills requirements of the manufacturing sector in Ireland, over the period 2012-2020. This study has been developed in tandem with the wider strategy for manufacturing, Making it in Ireland, which is being undertaken by Forfás under the Action Plan for Jobs 2012.
