John is an experienced HR professional with over 25 years experience in the FMCG food industry in Ireland and the UK. With experience in both operational and employee services roles he has supported the business and employees across Ireland, the UK, as part of a multinational PLC and in more recent times in a privately owned multinational business.

Following a successful career in operations, John moved into a training and development role. In 2006, with over 11 years experience as Group Training and Development Manager, he moved into the role of HR Manager for the Pizza Business Unit of Green Isle Foods. He then progressed to become the Head of HR for the Frozen Division, leading the HR team in Green Isle Foods (Irl), Hollands Pies (UK) and Five Star Fish (UK). Currently, John is managing partner of Sunflower HR.

John’s successful and interesting career to date is a reflection of his desire to exceed expectations of the business and employees alike in a FMCG environment supplying top quality household consumer brands like Goodfellas, San Marco, Donegal Catch, Sea Chef and Hollands Pies.

John has been a member of the IITD since 1996. After enrolling in the IITD Diploma in Training and Development he became involved in the local IITD Chapter and held a number of posts on IITD's National Council including Chapter Chair, Education Officer and Honorary Treasurer. In 2007 John became a Fellow of IITD for his contribution to the profession and was elected President of IITD for two years in 2008. As President he represented IITD members on the FÁS Excellence Through People Approvals Board and again served as acting President for six months in 2011 as the President at the time stepped down for personal and health reasons. John is presently an elected member of IITD's National Council.

In 2007 John completed an MSc in Training and Performance Management with the University of Leicester.
