A recent survey, conducted on behalf of IITD by Maynooth University, suggests that we are not pulling out all the stops when it comes to evaluation of training – 87% of organisations do not measure the return on investment of their training and almost 1 in four organisations do no type of training evaluation or review whatsoever. There is, perhaps, no other area of business activity where this level of indifference to the outcomes of investment would be tolerated. In the longer terms this unsustainable situation may have negative effects on the willingness of management to invest further in the training of staff.
